JPG to WEBP Converter

Prepare photographs for a website or product listing. Convert JPG files to WEBP privately in your browser, without an account.

Your files stay on your device. Conversion happens in your browser; images are not uploaded to our server.

Animated GIF/WebP files are converted using their first frame. HEIC/HEIF and TIFF input requires browser decoding support; unsupported files show an error. SVG output embeds a PNG raster image, not editable vector paths. ICO output is resized to fit 256×256. PNG, BMP, TIFF and ICO are lossless; the quality slider affects lossy formats. AVIF output depends on browser support. File extensions are changed by actual re-encoding, not renaming.

How to convert JPG to WEBP

WebP is a practical alternative for website photos when your publishing platform accepts it. Start with high quality, compare the downloaded picture with your original, then lower quality if the size saving is worth the visible change.

Before you download

WebP is not accepted by every marketplace or application. A smaller output is not guaranteed; check the actual downloaded file size.

The converter keeps the decoded dimensions unless ICO output requires scaling. It does not upscale, crop, remove backgrounds or recover missing detail. Each file must be at most 60 MB and 40 million pixels.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real WEBP file?

Yes. The image is decoded and encoded into the selected output format. Renaming an extension alone would not change the file data.

Can I convert several images?

Select multiple images, then download each successful result individually. On a phone, use smaller batches to reduce memory use.

Do I need to upload my images?

No. Image processing runs on your device. The website also loads advertising and consent scripts; see the privacy policy.
