ICO is a container commonly used for website favicons and Windows icons. This converter embeds a PNG image inside a single-size ICO file and scales the picture to fit within 256 by 256 pixels while preserving its aspect ratio.

A square source with a clear subject gives the best small icon. This tool creates a single-size icon, not a full multi-resolution Windows icon bundle.

The converter keeps the decoded dimensions unless ICO output requires scaling. It does not upscale, crop, remove backgrounds or recover missing detail. Each file must be at most 60 MB and 40 million pixels.

Is this a real ICO file?

Yes. The image is decoded and encoded into the selected output format. Renaming an extension alone would not change the file data.

Can I convert several images?
